KATE randolph burns
-------------------------------------------about kate-------------------------------------------
KATE RANDOLPH was born in Belleville, N.J. and given the name Kathleen Burns. After marrying Harrison Randolph and meeting her actor father-in-law, John Randolph, who immediately began announcing her as “Kate,” she became Kate Randolph Burns, professionally.

She was drawn to acting while in college, attracted by the rehearsal process because she enjoyed the opportunity to “relive the same moment over and over, practicing being in the here and now.” She graduated with a BA in Theatre Arts and Pre-Law.

Shortly after moving to New York to pursue Acting (not Law), she became a practicing Buddhist and has continued her daily practice for 38 years. She studied at HB Studios, under the tutelage of Ed Morehouse and Uta Hagen, and was immediately cast in her first Off--Broadway show at La Mama, ETC. After turns in many Off--Broadway shows, work with several theatre companies, various roles in summer stock and regional companies, Kate made her way to Los Angeles. Upon her
arrival in LA, she landed a guest
spot on St. Elsewhere, the “Grey’s
Anatomy” of the decade, which
became her entry into TV and film.

She went on to play a variety of roles
in both her professional and personal
life, and is happy to return to the stage
and to the “process,” in this
beautiful piece of theatre,
     The Belle of Amherst.
